Pizza places in the United States run from a counter with two stools and a stack of boxes to a full sit-down pizzeria with a bar, and most neighborhood shops do all three things at once: dine-in, takeout and delivery. Ordering by phone is still common and often faster than an app, and many independents charge less when you call direct because there is no platform fee. Sizes are usually listed in inches (a small around 10", a large 14", an extra-large 16" or more), and a large feeds two to three adults. Slices are sold from a display case at New York-style counters and reheated to order; whole pies take 15-25 minutes at a busy shop. Most spots take cards and mobile pay, though a few older pizzerias remain cash-only, so check the door or the listing before you order.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. The most common schedule is 11 am–9:30 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Sal’s Pizza & Ristorante at (919) 797-0172; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, salspizzaofdurham.com.
Customers rate it 4.6 out of 5 on Google across 97 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded pizza restaurants in Durham.
Durham is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Durham follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Very nice employees who are friendly and efficient. I've eaten in and done take out and both work out fine insofar as a relatively short wait time for food. Today I got take out and it took under 15 minutes till the food came up. I got penne w/tomato sauce and lasagna. I live nearby so was home in no time and the food was still piping hot. The lasagna was very tasty and my spouse enjoyed the penne. We also got some delicious bread rolls with it and some packets of parm cheese. Plus we both had leftovers, esp the penne. I have to be honest, since there a shot spotter that's been set up in the parking lot for some time near the Food Lion, I won't come here at night cos of feels too dicey. Not to say something can't happen during the day, cos it could, but I don't get a good vibe in some areas of the strip mall. I'll mainly only come here during the day.

The sauce and cheese on the large pepperoni I got tasted good. The pizza crust itself was the problem. The crust was very uneven. The thin spots not really well and tasted good. The high spots ( 3/4 of the pie) were another story. It was so tough that I got tired of chewing. Usually it's a full stomach that stops me from eating pizza. Not this time...I just got tired of trying.

Very friendly people. Super polite and courteous. Food was a great price! Well worth it! "Fried zucchini" was excellent, "sausage hero"was superior and delicious and the "chopped cheese sub" was amazing!!! The "pizza slice" was humongous and mouth watering!!! I would highly recommend "Sal's" restaurant. Best part is I did not break the bank!!!!

Overall Score: 5.9/10 – A welcoming and casual pizza spot offering decent food with good quality, though nothing particularly standout. The service was friendly, and the food was ready on time. Atmosphere and Service: 6.0/10 – The restaurant looks new and clean, providing a casual and welcoming dine-in experience. The person at the front was respectful and polite, contributing to a positive impression. While the website is functional, navigating the menu online can be cumbersome due to individual size listings, which can make online ordering feel a bit overwhelming. Mozzarella Sticks: 5.9/10 – These were fresh and tasted as expected, though nothing about them stood out. The marinara sauce was standard, and while the overall quality was good, the price felt slightly high by about a dollar for what was offered. Cheese Pizza: 5.8/10 – A decent pizza with good quality ingredients, though the thicker crust lacked zest and could benefit from a drizzle of oil to enhance the flavor. The sauce also lacked a bold kick, which would have elevated the overall taste. The price felt slightly high by about a dollar, making the pizza good but not memorable.

Great to have a New York style pizza place in this area. We had a calzone and Caesar salad the first time. Both were great. Not much to a Caesar salad but the lettuce was fresh and well prepared. Nothing worse than brown lettuce that’s is full of stems. The calzone was delicious. Perfect mix of mozzarella and ricotta. The dough had a great crisp and chewiness to it. We will be back!!
